“GOIN’ HOME” is based on the celebrated Largo theme from Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9. The words were later written by Dvořák’s student William Fisher, who created a text inspired by the spirit and imagery of African American spirituals.
With its themes of peace, rest, and the journey toward an eternal home, “Goin’ Home” has become one of Dvořák’s most cherished and well-known melodies. This arrangement for SSAATTBB choir highlights its warmth and expressive beauty through rich choral textures.
