“I VOW TO THEE, MY COUNTRY” is a hymn adapted from a 1908 poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice. It reflects themes of loyalty, service, sacrifice, and hope, contrasting devotion to one’s earthly homeland with the promise of a heavenly kingdom. The hymn is set to the tune Thaxted, Gustav Holst’s noble melody adapted from the central section of Jupiter, from his orchestral suite The Planets.
